At REVStaffing, we consider our virtual assistants and clients to be a family unit, and are always happy to hear success stories from anyone in our family.
In this spirit, we would like to take a moment to congratulate the father of one of our valued clients, Wilfredo Cortes Collazo, who is being inducted into the West Virginia State University Sports Hall of Fame.
Wilfredo was born on March 11, 1957 in Hartford, Connecticut. His grandmother, Agripina Cartagena, migrated to the U.S. from Puerto Rico in the early 1950’s and raised him from childhood. He credits her with encouraging him to pursue a college education and to live a purposeful life.
After proving to be an exceptional student at Bulkeley High School and named Athlete of the Year and Defensive MVP, Wilfredo was offered a football scholarship from WVSU. He made such an impact on the practice field that Head Football Coach, Colin Cameron, made him a starting safety his freshmen year. Once again, Wilfredo was named a Defensive MVP during the 1976 Homecoming game against Bluefield State.
In 1980, Wilfredo earned his B.S. degree in Business Administration and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army where he proudly served for fourteen years. As a career military officer, he attained the rank of Major and retired in 1989.
Wilfredo continued to give his time and talent back to the community by coaching youth basketball and serving as the Commissioner of the Seneca Ridge Basketball League. After a 16-year career in Sales as Production Solutions Executive with Xerox Corporation, Wilfredo is currently a licensed Real Estate Consultant with Keller Williams Realty in Bradenton, Florida.
