A Day in (Another) Life: The Secret to My Success

Occasionally, the REVStaffing blogging crew hands over the keyboard to one of our own virtual assistants; our readers are as fascinated as we are to know about the incredibly different ways in which our staff members spend their days. Today, we welcome you to a day in the life of our Transaction Coordination Manager, Mercedes Castillo. She says:

I am the envy of all of my friends. Not only do I work, but I manage to have a clean house, a happy child and a (meager) social life. I find time to read good books, see good movies, and even practice yoga.

Want to know my secret? I am a virtual assistant at REVStaffing.

As a single mother, I made the conscious decision to spend as much time as I could with my daughter. I found a company that appreciates my unique skill set and real estate background, and I could not be happier. I am now a Team Manager, overseeing the Transaction Coordination division, as well as part of a two-person team in charge of new client launches and overall client care.

On a typical day I wake up, go through my email, and then check in with my work partner. I get my child off to preschool, while checking email on my phone. Once home, I call clients and check in with my work partner again. Then I touch base with any virtual assistants assigned to my clients, to assess project progression and answer questions. Once that’s done, I continue to check email while squeezing in a little housework, answering client calls, and picking my child up from school.

As the day progresses, I’ll continue to check in with my work partner, both on the phone and via email. After cooking dinner, I will head to a yoga class to de-stress, then come home for bedtime for my child. Once she’s down for the night, I’ll squeeze in some more work, checking in with my partner and running through the last emails of the day.

What about tomorrow? Why, I’ll wake up and start the same routine all over again!

There’s no way I could do this alone; my work partner is the best anyone could ask for. We both realize that working at home does NOT mean working every minute you are at home. However, timeliness is necessary and it’s rare that things get pushed off to the next day.

While none of this is easy, it seems less like “work” than it really is. Why? Because most days, I really love my job. My clients are thriving. They are successful Realtors® who need and value REVStaffing’s services. My co-workers are caring, hard-working and, quite simply, the best in the business. Whether it’s a completely straightforward closed transaction, or the hard to measure gauge of “client satisfaction,” my work allows me to see an end product. I embrace the fact that my paid time is mine to earn: the better job I do entering a listing or proofing a newsletter, the more work I will generate from a happy client.

Right now, my dogs need to be walked, and I need to prepare for an afternoon conference call with a big client. Hopefully, I’ll have time to touch up my pedicure before then!

Like Mercedes, all of REVStaffing’s virtual assistants are professionally dedicated to providing you with unparalleled customer service. We encourage you to give us a call for a free needs analysis; we’ll be happy to discuss your unique business needs!
